Port-au-Prince, Haiti – After a ten-month wait, the Toyota car donated to the Jeff Cherubin Domond Foundation has finally been released from customs. This vehicle will significantly enhance the foundation’s ability to serve the Haitian community, particularly during these challenging times.

The newly acquired Toyota car will be instrumental in improving the foundation’s operational efficiency. It will facilitate the transportation of medical supplies, enable staff mobility, and ensure timely delivery of aid to remote areas. This is especially crucial given the ongoing violence in Port-au-Prince, where safe and reliable transportation is scarce.

The donation from Bishop Esterka’s trust and other partners has been vital for the foundation. In November 2023, Deacon Joe highlighted the desperate situation in Haiti, with escalating violence and widespread poverty. Despite these challenges, the foundation has continued to meet the needs of the poor, thanks to the generous support from its donors.

Haiti faces severe challenges, including rampant violence and political instability. Patients risk their lives to reach the foundation’s dialysis center, where dedicated doctors and nurses operate six machines three times a day, earning only $185 per month. The UN Security Council’s deployment of a multinational force led by Kenya, supported by $100 million from the United States, aims to restore security and facilitate aid delivery.

Haitian gangs have recently breached prisons and ransacked a Catholic hospital associated with Msgr. Theodule Domond. Despite these setbacks, the Jeff Cherubin Domond Foundation remains steadfast in its mission. The Toyota car will play a crucial role in maintaining and expanding the foundation’s reach, ensuring that essential services continue to be provided to those in need.
